CAVS: A Multinational Armoured Vehicle Collaboration

Joint Program Leads to Innovative Troop Transportation

On April 17, 2023, the technical arrangement for the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) was officially signed, marking a significant milestone in international defense cooperation. This innovative program, initiated by Finland and Latvia, has since gained the support of Sweden and Germany, fostering a collaborative effort to develop a cutting-edge troop transportation vehicle.

Replacement for Legacy Vehicles

The CAVS is designed to replace the TPz Fuchs and M113 vehicles currently in use, offering enhanced protection, mobility, and operational capabilities. Its advanced features will provide troops with a safer and more effective platform for a range of missions.

Collaborative Production

To ensure efficient production and maintenance, Patria has established a production cooperation with Defence Service Logistics (DSL) and Flensburger. This partnership enables the sharing of expertise and resources, ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of the CAVS.

Strengthening Defense Ties

The CAVS program not only provides a practical solution for troop transportation but also strengthens defense ties between the participating nations. By pooling their resources and expertise, Finland, Latvia, Sweden, and Germany are demonstrating their commitment to collective security and innovation.

Next-Generation Transportation

With its advanced design and multinational support, the CAVS represents the next generation of troop transportation vehicles. Its implementation will enhance the operational capabilities of the participating nations, ensuring their troops are equipped with the latest and most effective technology.
